Roshani is an Actor and Musical Theatre Performer based in London. She can be heard on the soon-to-be-released concept album of Rumi: the musical, written by Nadim Naaman and featuring Ramin Karimloo as Shams Tabri. Roshani was cast in the 2020 UK Tour of Bring It On: the musical before Covid took the world by storm and can't wait for theatre to return in all its glory!
She trained in Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music, and was extremely fortunate to learn under brilliant industry professionals including Patti LuPone, Dan Bowling, Hadley Fraser, Imelda Staunton, Jenna Russell, Claude-Michel Schönberg, Alison Guill, Matt Ryan, and Sam Kenyon.
She is currently a Singing Instructor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and also teaches singing lessons privately via Zoom. Roshani obtained her Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) for teaching Singing and Musical Theatre.
Having grown up in Sri Lanka, Roshani regularly returns to Colombo and teaches singing & musical theatre in the form of private lessons, masterclasses, and workshops.
As a Mathematics graduate from Imperial College London, Roshani linked her love of science and music in her dissertation on the use of feature selection techniques to improve prediction algorithms based on melodies in pop music. She then collaborated with Dr Cornelia Metzig on network construction algorithms used in folk songs and this research was later published in the peer-reviewed journal Pattern Recognition Letters: 'Classification of origin with feature selection and network construction in folk songs'. She continues to work as a freelance Data Engineer.
Roshani loves to teach, and tutors privately in Maths, Science, and Computer Science from GCSE to university level. She also offers free tuition for kids from under-privileged backgrounds who cannot afford the individual help they need.
